The Hochschule RheinMain - University of Applied Sciences Wiesbaden, Rüsselsheim und Geisenheim is located in the economically and culturally important Rhein-Main-conurbation in central Germany. Being one of the fifteen largest Universities of Applied sciences, it includes 10 departments, offers more than 30 study programs, which mainly lead to a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, and has about 9,000 students. The departments are distributed over three separate locations. When the University was founded in 1971 it was regarded as a “newcomer”, but it soon gained recognition in Wiesbaden and the entire region.
The University contributes extensively to the economic, social and cultural life to Wiesbaden, the capital of Hessen. About 2,000 students are enrolled in programs in business – e.g. Business Law, Insurance and Finance, International Business Administration – and media – e.g. Media Management, Media Computer Science as well as Visual Communication. These programs have a great impact on the professional world of Wiesbaden and the surrounding area.
The Rüsselsheim Campus is located between Wiesbaden and Frankfurt and mainly hosts technical programs: Mechanical Engineering, Information Technology and Electrical Engineering as well as Physical Engineering. Scientists in Environmental Technology and International Management and Engineering broaden the spectrum of this campus. These and numerous other programs, which are above all extra occupational, have a large number of well-equipped laboratories like e.g. a clean-room for microsystem-technological research or a laboratory for mobile multimedia technology with campus-WLAN.
Geisenheim on the Rhine, the third location of the University, is well regarded within Germany and even outside Europe for its research and training in viticulture, vegetable gardening, horticulture, and beverage technology. The Geisenheim Alumni Association currently has more than 2,000 former students who found employment in all parts of the world. The close link between teaching and research offers options for study programs, which are unique. Geisenheim is one of the few university locations in the field of agriculture where application-oriented knowledge in research develops and is directly implemented in teaching. Lately, programs with internationally accredited Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees have been offered which provide new perspectives for the students due to the economic and international focus.
